I first met Brittney in the fifth grade. She had blonde hair, brown eyes, and a jacket from her dance studio that she wore at recess every day. Halfway through the school year, we started talking during recess and, after that, we became joined at the hip. Nearly every single one of my memories from the ages of ten to twenty somehow include Brittney- whether she was there or wasn’t there. We hung out together at school. We saved each other Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups so we could eat them together. We learned how to cook together. We painted our bedrooms together. We went to dances together. We worked at the library together. We shared our lockers. We shared tanning passes at the local tanning salon. We played tennis together. We had weekly sleepovers. We wrote notes to each other during classes. We went on trips together. We roomed together our first year of college and, as children, we used to draw floor plans of our future homes that would be connected with a secret passageway (our husbands wouldn’t mind, of course). I mean, long story short: Brittney and I had one of those friendships growing up that you read about in books. This girl was my girl, y’know?
I’m so happy to say that, seventeen years later, this girl is STILL my girl! Brittney has been my best friend for such a long time and she is absolutely one of my favorite people. I was able to photograph her, her awesome husband, and their sweet little girl while I was in Kansas City over Thanksgiving and we had such a blast. These three are so much fun and I am so thrilled to show them off!
