Lissa Talks Print on Demand: Episode 002 | How Does Print on Demand Work?

How Does Print on Demand Work?

A million years ago, I bought my website domain and Andrew said something like this:

“I really like that your website is your name because it can grow into whatever you want it to grow into.”

At the time, I did a little eye roll because I knew that, personally, I was never going to do anything but photography. But here we are! A decade later and I’m spilling all I know about Print on Demand. The past year, I took a lot of time to think about what I wanted for the future of my life and my business and I’m so excited about this series. It’s funny – I talk a lot about my own Print on Demand journey in this limited series and, while that’s something I’m not always totally into sharing, I just really felt like, if there’s someone out there who needs, like, a Print on Demand friend (lol), this podcast would be a great way to make that happen. And at first? I definitely didn’t plan to turn these into blog posts. But, y’know what? This website is my website, even if I’m not chatting about photography.

Get ready for a ton of information, y’all! Cause today? We are talking all about the basics: How Does Print on Demand Work?

In our second episode of Lissa Talks Print on Demand, we’re talking:

Finding a Print Provider

How Payments Work

Return Options

Informational Cards

Slow Times + Busy Times

Wanna know this episode in one quote? I’ve got you!

“Something that holds a lot of people back from Print on Demand is that, sometimes, things go wrong. This is why I absolutely love Printify. The fact is, sometimes things go wrong. As a photographer, I’ve had people not like their photos. With my dress rentals, I’ve had gowns come back totally damaged. As a POD shop owner, sometimes a wrong size is sent or an item may be a little defective. Working with Printify, though, I have never been unhappy with the resolution of any issue. They always handle things smoothly and I’ve always been happy with the resolution they’ve sent me. As a long time business owner running her own thing from her own office, I can see that this experience is really unique.”

Literally forever obsessed with Printify. I use Printify for all of my print on demand printing and I’ll never stop singing their praises. They’re incredible!  For design work, I’m totally in love with Canva and also love finding extra artwork + fonts on Creative Fabrica and Creative Market.  For photography, I shoot with a Canon R6 and most of my mockup photographs are taken with the 35L or 50L. I do all of my editing in Adobe Lightroom and have since 2011! It’s my jam!
