Nervous for Your Photos? I’ve Got You!
If you are nervous to have your photograph taken, that is totally normal!
As a photographer of fifteen years, I get it! There’s something vulnerable about being photographed and, while one side of me thinks “no big deal!”, the other, non-photographer side of me gets that it can be a little scary! It’s normal to me to hold a box up to my face and take a bunch of photos; it’s not normal to most people for a woman to chase them around while holding a box to their face, hahaha. Photography is kinda weird! And that’s really great!
Here’s a few things that’ll help calm your nerves before your shoot! These little sliders are true for everyone but a little extra true if you’re one of my clients. Photos are so fun and, even though it can be a little awkward to start, our session is going to be an absolute blast!

You Are Awesome the Way You Are
Your photographs will celebrate this! That double chin or stray chin hair you always notice? Nobody else notices it. And if they do? How boring of them! In fifteen years, I have thought “this person is stunning!” so many times while shooting. I have never ever, in my life, once thought “this person is ugly” when taking photos. Because honestly? It’s just not true. I genuinely believe that every person, couple, and family is absolutely beautiful. How could I not? There’s something inherently beautiful about letting yourself be seen. And in photos? We’re doing just that!
Speaking of, you do not need to know how to pose yourself in your photos!
Seriously! That’s my job! I have been posing people for photos for over a decade and, while I’m not saying I’m perfect and have never in my life put someone in a bad pose (lol), I will say that I know what I’m doing when I arrange someone for a photo. I’m the chattiest photographer ever and, while I love chatting, one reason I’m so chatty is that I’m trying to distract the people I’m photographing. If we’re busy chatting about your favorite ghost story or the book you read last month, you’ll be way more engaged in that than thinking about how to pose yourself. Posing my clients for photos is my job, not their job! That includes distracting them with laughter and silly jokes / conversation topics. Chatting always helps calm those nerves!
And most of all? It’s really dang fun!
Still Feeling Nervous for Your Photos?
Totally understand! Read the cute little graphics below to see why there’s no need to be intimidated by a photoshoot. It’s absolutely normal to be nervous! But at the end of the day? We’re taking photos to celebrate you and this time of your life, too!
