Emaline & The Best Family Session | Newborn Photographer in Arkansas

Emaline is one of the luckiest babies in the entire world.

There are a million reasons why she’s the luckiest. One: She’s lucky enough to call Kansas City her hometown. Two: She has the most adorable outfits. Three: Her house has an AMAZING sunroom. Four: She’s, like, ridiculously cute. And Five! Alison is her mother.

I have known Alison since junior high and she is funny and warm and good hearted and talkative and sassy and just wonderful to be around all of the time. She is an awesome friend! I could share so many good things about Alison but, instead, I’ll put it this way: I have known Alison since the very start of the seventh grade and, fifteen (sixteen?) years later, I can honestly say that I do not remember a single time that Alison and I ever had an argument – and we were friends in high school! This is a big deal! Alison is such a beautiful person – inside and out! – and, basically, Emaline won the mother jackpot. She is going to have so much fun growing up!

So! When I was visiting my parents a few weeks ago in Lee’s Summit, I was super excited to photograph Emaline’s newborn session. Emaline has the most awesome family – her dad is super funny and also super fun to be around and her brother, Bo, is the king of the house – and I LOVED photographing them in the early days of Emaline’s life as they settled into a new kind of normal. It’s funny – I have seen so many of my friends with their first babies over the past several years but, as Alison and I stood in Emaline’s nursery a few weeks ago, I couldn’t stop smiling. It is so fun to see your childhood friends grow up and become parents. It’s just such a spectacular feeling and, even though Alison and I stood there laughing and saying “Did we really graduate ten years ago?!” like a couple of old ladies, I am just so into this late-twenties stage of life. The weddings and the babies and the knowledge that, no matter how far apart you are from your old friends, you still share a common history and, as time goes on, I think that’s just one of the best things in life. Seeing old friends is rad, y’all! Motherhood looks so good on you, Alison!
