Kelly Rae | Senior Photographs in Wilson Park

Two weeks ago, Kelly-Rae modeled for me at Wilson Park in Fayetteville.

Kelly is one of my 2015 Senior Models and it has been such a blast getting to know her this year! We took these photographs for a blog post on shooting portraits with non-portrait lenses (blog post coming to Clickin Moms soon!) and it was dark and damp and dreary and totally and completely and absolutely (maybe even perpetually?) gloomy outside. It was like it was January or something!

Luckily, I am not afraid of shooting past sunset so I bumped my ISO hard and, as soon as it was so dark we could barely see each other, I placed Kelly under lamps and in front of car lights since I’d left my flash gear at home. And you guys – it was so fun. Ridiculously fun. I loved every minute and I am totally into these photographs. They are so much fun!

Thanks for driving down to Fayetteville on such short notice, Kelly! And even more? Thank you for not looking at me like I was a crazy person when I stopped you from driving away and said “Want to take a few more photographs in front of the car headlights?” like I was, in fact, a crazy person (but the craziness paid off!!). These photographs are some of my favorite of the year – and, you guys, it’s January 28th and I’ve already created some of my very favorite images that I’ve taken in my entire life so saying “These are some of my favorite of the year!” carries a lot more weight than it would seem. It means that I am totally thrilled with these babies.
