Before and After | Backlit Bridal Portrait

I thought it would be fun to start sharing a few before and afters and I thought it would be REALLY fun to make a video showing the entire process. So here I am today making this post and, I think I was right, this is going to be really fun!

This photograph is from Lindsey’s bridal session. I shared this session last week and just love her photographs. This was the first photograph taken during our session. It was pretty bright outside and I started with my 24L Tilt Shift. This shot was actually a test shot, but this is how I would typically expose a photograph when exposing for the sky. This isn’t my typical edit because there’s so many shadows, but it was so much fun to edit this and I’m pretty sure I’ll be incorporating more of these shots on days when I’m shooting with great clouds. I love how this turned out!

Here’s the before:

And here’s the after:

And, best of all, here’s the process:

Thanks for looking, y’all! I’ll probably start doing these on a monthly basis because this post was ridiculously fun to put together.

Lissa Chandler is a portrait and wedding photographer in Northwest Arkansas who specializes in capturing authentic, beautiful moments in everyday life and special days, too. Lissa lives in Fayetteville with her family: a husband with a wicked sense of humor, a two year old who is probably the best snuggler in the world (particularly at bedtime), a six month old who is so happy the sun should be jealous of him, and a shaggy dog, Napoleon, who she frequently mistakes for a teddy bear. Lissa often travels to the Greater Kansas City area and is available for travel nationwide. *
