Three Things I Loved About Weisi and Trae’s Wedding | Cooper Chapel & Horton Farms

Y’all! This past week has been crazy!

Last weekend, Max and Henry both came down with the flu (hello, fall!) and, since then, we have been moving at a snail’s pace. Never one to miss a chance for drama, Henry ended up in the Emergency Room on Monday night and, after that, the week pretty much went to toast. Our kids are the worst breathers ever so we are super familiar with the Emergency Room routine by now – Max first went when he was eight weeks old! – but, even still, they take such a toll on this mom! We are so grateful for modern medicine that gets our kids breathing well again when our home nebulizer doesn’t and, on a more important note, Henry is so grateful that the hospital gives out armbands to each and every Emergency Room patient. Homeboy’s been wearing his ever since Monday and he’ll be wearing it until it totally falls apart. He refuses to let me take it off. Ha!

BUT! This blog post isn’t about how Henry hits up the Emergency Room at least once a year. This blog post is about Weisi and Trae and their awesome wedding at Mildred B. Cooper Chapel and Horton Farms last week. I have been dying to share a few sneak peeks into their wedding with y’all and, today, I’ve finally got my stuff together enough to sit down and celebrate these two wonderful people. Weisi and Trae are such a creative and talented couple and being their wedding photographer this past year has definitely been a highlight for me. They are the best!

Here are three of my favorite things about their wedding day!

One: The Mugs

I’ve seen lots of wedding favors in my day and these mugs were the best wedding favors of my life. From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mugs to monogrammed mugs to mugs about bacon, these bad boys were such an awesome wedding favor and, a week later, Andrew is still talking about them.

Two: Their Wedding Pie

Um. This pie by Gooseberry Pie is the cutest pie ever. It had to make this list!

Three: That They Were Married in Trae’s Family Chapel

I have been lucky to shoot several (gorgeous!) weddings at Cooper Chapel the past few years and, from the first time I saw the chapel, I was immediately struck by how breathtaking it was. I mean, who isn’t?! This glass chapel is absolutely stunning and I love all of the weddings we have been able to shoot here but this wedding was extra heartwarming because Trae’s family built this chapel and everyone in his family has been married here. I am the most sentimental person ever (surprise!) and I just think this is incredibly beautiful.

Even better? The weather was bananas during Weisi and Trae’s ceremony! The chapel – while always beautiful – seriously shines in rain and being in there with Weisi and Trae saying their vows in the middle of a thunderstorm felt like magic. The day after her wedding, Weisi told me that she felt like she was in an enchanted forest and, y’all, she totally was. Their ceremony was PERFECT.

And Bonus! Weisi Didn’t Judge Me When I Kept Calling Planters Succulents

For Weisi and Trae’s wedding, Flora whipped up the most insanely gorgeous planters and, for some reason, I kept referring to them as succulents. We shot Weisi’s bridal session the day after her wedding and, during it, we used four of the planters and, every time I moved them, I called them succulents.

They. Were. Not. Succulents.

But! Weisi just laughed with me as I kept calling them succulents and, as I was driving home, I realized that I kept calling them succulents because several of my brides with succulent bouquets used the same greenery in their bouquet that was used in the planters (meaning the planters were totally succulents by association, right?) but Weisi and I had a good laugh that I couldn’t call the planters by the right name. Thanks for not judging me, Weisi! You are awesome.

Hope y’all have the most amazing time in Hawaii, Weisi and Trae! You deserve it!
