Our Life Lately | Arkansas Wedding Photographer

A few days ago, Max and I saw a just-blossomed tree on the way to preschool. Max loves playing games and, before the first tree had barely left our vision, we started playing an I Spy game that basically consisted of Max, Henry, and I counting just-blossomed trees. On the way there, we saw four or five trees with white flowers. And on the way back five hours later? We saw like fifteen!

This is the (crazy fast!) season of life we are in right now. My kids are growing like weeds and both of them have officially left all traces of babyhood behind. These guys are bonafide personalities now, y’all! Max is a brilliant and creative and passionate little soul and Henry is, as always, such a fiery and funny and determined little kid and being their mom is terrific, even when it’s been raining for a week straight and we’re all driving each other (and the dog!) totally crazy.

Gone are the days of both boys waking up and crawling straight into bed with me. Gone are the days that they needed me to get them something as simple as a cup of water (even though they still ask!). Gone are the days where they needed me to stay right next to them at the park and carry them on my hip and mug on their little faces all day long. Gone are so many of those sweet and tender baby and toddler moments for these two little loves of mine.

And HELLO! Hello to the days of playing at friends’ houses – sans mom! – for hours at a time. Hello to eating chicken sandwiches (not nuggets!). Hello to sleepovers with cousins and Saturdays full of sports games and earning allowance by washing the dog and bedrooms with shark posters and afternoons binge playing Minecract. Hello to two little men who will try every food out there (save seaweed!) and the most adventurous souls on the planet. These guys, y’all. They are my sun.
