When I sat down to plan my 2016 Senior Model Sessions, I kept coming back to one thought over and over again:
Paper. Airplanes.
I couldn’t shake the idea! “Paper Airplanes? What would I do with paper airplanes?!” I’d think to myself, convinced it was a mildly horrible idea. But! The more I tried to convince myself that a shoot with paper airplanes couldn’t be done, the more I wanted to photograph a shoot with paper airplanes. I mean, who wouldn’t?!
So! When the evening of my shoot with Chloe and Alyssa arrived, I was beyond thrilled. I’d ordered vintage maps and, after reading, like, five different tutorials on how to make paper airplanes (I’d never done it before!), I sat down on my couch and folded airplanes out of thirty year old maps, stopping only to participate in the airplane fights my pajama-clad children were running in the living room. And our Senior Model shoot full of, like, sixty airplanes? It was perfect! I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t know what to do with the airplanes once we started shooting but, turns out, paper airplanes are the most amazing prop out there. You can throw them! You can hold them! You can have a model throw them! You can have other people throw them from the sidelines! This shoot was FUN – a crazy amount of fun! – so don’t be surprised when I use more paper airplanes in the future. They are so fantastic!
A little more about Chloe and Alyssa: Chloe is a soon-to-be senior at Shiloh Christian High School and Alyssa is a soon-to-be senior at Fayetteville High School. Chloe has been riding horses her entire life and Alyssa sings with her school choir. Chloe as brown hair; Alyssa has blonde hair. I first met Chloe at our Senior Model Meeting. I also first met Alyssa at our Senior Model Meeting but, last year, I saw her jamming out on multiple wedding dance floors and thought “Her hair is amazing!” each and every time. And these two together? They are a total blast. I am so excited to share these photographs with y’all! Along with my helper Jacey, who modeled at our Tulle Skirt Session, the three of us had so much fun during our session together and I am just so happy with how these photographs turned out. You’re going to love them!
Also, I totally apologize for talking too much in this blog post. Sometimes I just get away with myself, y’know?
