I have this pair of boots that I wear to nearly every single session.
They’re brown combat boots and, if you’ve seen me at a session, chances are you’ve seen me wear them. I’m currently on my second pair – I wore my first pair to a year and a half of sessions and they trudged through dirt and new grass and dead leaves and half a foot of snow and mud and creek and lake water and, eventually, I had to pitch them and I replaced them with a pair of similar boots that I found at Target for thirty bucks or something else ridiculously cheap (who doesn’t love Target, right?). And since I swapped those suckers out for one another in the middle of the summer? My newer, browner boots have been trudged through dirt and dying grass and rain puddles and creek water and, more often or not, they have a rock in them.
I mean, I love those boots. LOVE them.
(So much so that writing this blog post led me to buy three more pairs of different colored combat boots).
So! When Kayla jumped out of her car wearing the very same combat boots that I wear to nearly every session (though, oddly, I was rocking oxfords at hers), I was even more convinced that she and Evan were the perfect fit for me. And they are! These two are perfect for each other and there is nothing I love more than a couple who is totally, totally into each other.
Kayla and Evan are one of those couples that are just so effortlessly in love that everything about them is relaxed – the way they smile and the way they talk and even their excitement about getting married – everything is comfortable and fun and, I’ll say it, just happy. Seriously! I could not have asked for a better couple. And besides being, like, one of the most amazing couples ever? Their ideas for their engagement session were so much fun to bring to life! Kayla told me early on that she wanted sunset photographs and, when someone says “I want sunset photographs!”, I say “YES!” without blinking. And Kayla and Evan? They got some of my favorite late-golden-hour-sunset photographs that I have ever taken… and that’s not even counting the awesome string lights, fire pit, (delicious!) homemade hot chocolate, and s’mores we used at Kayla’s parent’s house.
Seriously. Their engagement session was one of my favorites ever.
