Jamie at Wedington Lake | Northwest Arkansas Senior Photography

Last Friday (not the 13th), my friend Lauren of Lauren Blair Photography and I met Jamie at Wedington Lake for a creative just-for-fun-because-it’s-Friday shoot. And, you guys, this shoot was an adventure.

First off! I got caught in some mad Fayetteville traffic on the way to the lake and, by the time I reached our meeting spot, my gas tank was completely empty. At Lake Wedington. Where there is absolutely nothing around for twelve miles each way (believe me! I googled it!). Luckily, Lauren is not only an amazing photography but also an amazing friend and didn’t mind saving me and my gas tank after the shoot, even when it meant we didn’t eat until nearly ten o’clock at night. So, the story ended well, but I was pretty terrified when I arrived at the shoot because, well, I have never ran out of gas before and have definitely never run out of gas before on a windy road in the middle of nowhere.

But who cares about my gas tank? Let’s talk about the shoot!

Our plan for the shoot was to put Jamie in the lake water- much like I did at Madison’s session back in June, but a little different since Madison was in a creek and Jamie was going to be in a lake- but as Lauren was photographing Jamie in a pathway, I scouted locations down by the lake and heard the biggest splash of my life. Like, I heard it, looked up, and there were countless ripples still rippling from where the splash had, y’know, splashed. The ripples (and splash!) were enormous!! And, I mean, I know that theoretically there aren’t alligators up this far north but I spent half of my growing-up years in Mobile, Alabama and know for a fact that alligators are super fast and scary and, after hearing that splash, there was no way I was putting Jamie in the lake. Sure, the splash I heard was probably some massive catfish but, really, I just wasn’t going to take that chance… and Jamie definitely didn’t want to, either! They had heard the splash when they were nowhere near the lake so, twenty minutes in, we scratched the lake water idea. But! Despite my gas tank and despite the huge splash in the water, I LOVE how Jamie’s photographs turned out!!

Here they are!

Lissa photographs primarily in the Northwest Arkansas area but often travels to the Greater Kansas City area and is available for travel nationwide. *

PS. As I mentioned, I shot this with my friend Lauren and you can see her take on the session on her blog. She is the sweetest and a super skilled senior photographer so, if my style doesn’t fit you and you are looking for gorgeous senior photographs, be sure to check her out!
